Hormonal IUD
A small device placed in the uterus, releasing a low dose of progestogen. The 52mg device is approved for eight years of contraception; the smaller 19.5mg device for five. With the 52mg device periods often become lighter and some people stop having them altogether; with the 19.5mg device periods usually lighten but irregular spotting is more common.
