A doctor looks in both ears before anything is syringed. If there is a perforation, an infection, a grommet or a history of ear surgery, syringing is not the right approach.

Ear syringing is done by our practice nurse once a doctor has checked your ears. The check comes first because it is not suitable for everyone, and doing it blind can cause harm.
Open Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. No referral needed to see a GP.
We are a Medicare Bulk Billing Practice. Standard consultations are bulk billed for eligible patients with a valid Medicare card.

Do I need to use drops beforehand?
Usually. Wax often needs softening for a few days for syringing to be effective. Ask us before you book so you do not make two trips.
Does it hurt?
It should not. It feels strange, and brief dizziness is common. Tell the nurse if anything is painful.
My hearing has not improved. What now?
Wax is a common cause of muffled hearing but not the only one. Book back in — hearing loss deserves a proper assessment.
