Allied health here

One clinic, one care team.

Care does not stop at the consulting room door. Where your GP and your physiotherapist are in the same building and can talk to each other, a plan tends to go further than it does when you are carrying it between two clinics yourself.

Allied health at Gosford Doctors currently means physiotherapy, provided on site by Physio For You. They are a Central Coast physiotherapy practice, and they run their own bookings, notes and billing — we provide the room and the continuity with your GP.

As other allied health services come to the practice, they will be listed here.

To book physiotherapy

  • Call Physio For You on (02) 4314 2204. Bookings are made with them directly, not through our reception.
  • You do not need a referral to book. One is only needed if you are claiming a Medicare rebate, or claiming through DVA, workers compensation or a CTP insurer.
  • If you are not sure whether physiotherapy is the right next step, raise it at your next GP appointment first.

Who provides it

Physio For You

Physiotherapy · Central Coast NSW

Consulting from Gosford Doctors — ring for current days and times

Physio For You is an established Central Coast physiotherapy practice with clinics across the region. Their physiotherapist consults from a room at Gosford Doctors, which means you can be seen in the same place you see your GP, and your GP can be kept in the loop about how you are going.

Physiotherapists are registered health practitioners in their own right. They take their own history, do their own assessment and plan their own treatment, and they hold their own clinical records. Bookings, billing and any questions about your treatment go to Physio For You.

What physiotherapy helps with

The reasons people are referred.

Tap a card for the detail. Your physiotherapist will assess you and tell you what is likely to help in your situation.

Injury

Injuries and strains

Injuries and strains

Sprains, strains and soft-tissue injuries, from a rolled ankle to a shoulder that has not settled. Assessment, hands-on treatment where appropriate, and a plan for getting back to what you were doing.

Ongoing

Back and neck pain

Back and neck pain

Persistent low back and neck pain, including pain that has been going for months. Physiotherapy focuses on movement, strength and the things that make it better or worse day to day.

Recovery

After surgery

After surgery

Rehabilitation after joint replacement, reconstruction or other orthopaedic surgery, working to the plan your surgeon has set and progressing it as you recover.

Older adults

Balance and mobility

Balance and mobility

Strength, balance and confidence on your feet, which matters most for anyone who has had a fall or is worried about having one. Often part of a broader plan with your GP.

Chronic conditions

Long-term conditions

Long-term conditions

Exercise and movement as part of managing arthritis, osteoporosis, a chronic pain condition or a long-term neurological condition, alongside what your GP is doing.

Prevention

Staying at it

Staying at it

Keeping going with the sport, the work or the walking you want to keep doing — including sorting out the niggle before it becomes the reason you stop.

How it works

Referrals, plans and rebates.

You can book physiotherapy without involving us at all. Where a Medicare rebate is in play, your GP has a part to play first.

Booking without a referral

Ring Physio For You on (02) 4314 2204 and book. Physiotherapy is a primary-contact profession, so no referral is needed for an ordinary appointment.

If you have a chronic condition

Where a condition has been present, or is likely to be present, for at least six months, your GP may prepare a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan. If allied health is part of that plan, your GP can refer you and a Medicare rebate applies to a limited number of allied health services each calendar year. Your GP will tell you whether you are eligible and how many you have left.

DVA, workers compensation and CTP

If you are claiming through DVA, a workers compensation insurer or a CTP insurer, a referral and an approved claim are usually needed before treatment starts. Bring your claim number, and talk to both us and Physio For You before you book.

What your GP needs to know

Tell your GP you are seeing the physiotherapist, and tell the physiotherapist what your GP is treating you for. The two working from the same picture is the whole point of having them in one building.

Getting the report back

With your consent, your physiotherapist can write back to your GP about the assessment and the plan. That letter goes into your health record here.

Questions

Allied health questions.

How do I book physiotherapy?

Call Physio For You on (02) 4314 2204. Bookings are made with them directly. Our reception cannot book it for you, though they can tell you when the physiotherapist is next at the clinic.

Do I need a referral?

Not for an ordinary appointment. A referral is only needed if you are claiming a Medicare rebate under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, or claiming through DVA, workers compensation or a CTP insurer.

Is physiotherapy bulk billed?

Physiotherapy is a private allied health service, booked and billed by Physio For You rather than by Gosford Doctors. Ask them what applies when you book. Your GP appointment here is bulk billed for eligible patients with a valid Medicare card.

Can Medicare help?

Where you have a chronic condition, your GP may prepare a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan and refer you for allied health, which allows a Medicare rebate for a limited number of services each calendar year. Your GP will tell you whether that applies to you.

Where do the appointments happen?

In a consulting room at Gosford Doctors, Shop 12, 297–299 Brisbane Water Drive, West Gosford, on the days the physiotherapist attends. Same entrance, same car park, same building as your GP.

Who holds my physiotherapy records?

Physio For You. They are a separate practice with their own obligations under privacy law. Where you consent, they can write to your GP here, and that letter is filed in your record with us. Our own handling of your information is set out in our Privacy Policy.

What should I bring?

Anything relevant — scans or reports, your referral if you have one, the name of any specialist involved, and clothing you can move in. If you are claiming through an insurer, bring the claim number.

Are other allied health services coming?

Physiotherapy is what is available at the practice at the moment. If that changes, this page will be updated.

Book on the day you need it.

Ring reception if there are no slots showing — they can often find one. All Medicare-eligible consultations are bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card.
